Today, we’re going to be reviewing the Beyerdynamic Closed Monitoring Headphones and see if these headphones are going to give you the sound quality that’ll make the music-lover in you rejoice.

Features

The Beyerdynamic Closed Monitoring Headphones features a lightweight construction that allows you to bring the headphones wherever you go. With comfortable materials like the soft, adjustable earcups and a robust spring steel headband, you can rest assured knowing that these headphones will last for years to come.

Notable features of the Beyerdynamic Closed Monitoring Headphones include:

  • Closed headphone
  • Excellent ambient noise attenuation
  • Superb audio quality with high sound pressure level handling
  • Extended frequency range
  • Single-sided cable with volume control
  • High long-term wearing comfort, replaceable soft-skin earpads
  • Robust spring steel headband
  • Secure fit
  • Supplied in a leather carrying case

These closed monitoring headphones are designed to provide audiophiles with a next level listening experience. The ultra-low bass sounds are clear and defined. Higher frequencies are easily translated to create a clear and differentiated sound.

When you’re wearing the headphones, you don’t have to worry about noises from the outside world ruining your listening experience, thanks to the headphone’s closed monitoring isolation design.

The Beyerdynamic Closed Monitoring Headphones are designed for a wide number of studio applications and home listening. We do want to note that 80 OHMs headphones have lower power requirements of the professional 250 OHMs devices.

However due to volume levels of mobile devices, these aren’t recommended for use with phones or tablets. With that said, the sound quality when used on mobile devices is acceptable at low or medium volume.

What People Are Saying

When looking at what customers had to say about these headphones, we weren’t too surprised to see a lot of positive reviews left by satisfied customers. The first thing customers commented on was the sound quality.

One person reported they had the 80 OHMs and the 250 OHMs versions and they reported the 80 OMHs version allows you to feel the bass much more fully than the 250s. They went on to say the impedance and amplification capabilities of the headphones surpassed other headphones they’ve tried in the past.

In terms of comfort, many people felt that these headphones were pretty darn comfortable. Customers enjoyed being able to remove the pad on the headband if they wanted to.

They liked that the headphones were lightweight, so they could wear them for prolonged periods of time without discomfort. One person did say that the ear pads can get hot over time, but even that goes away after a while.

At the other end of the spectrum, there were a small handful of customers who were disappointed with these headphones. The most common complaint people had was that while these were affordably priced, and the sound quality was great, the construction of the headphones could have been better.

One person said that the sound wire would become disconnected from both ends. They went on to say that the cord felt “worryingly loose” and they needed to use electrical tape to secure the wire to the ear cup.

Other customers commented that while the low frequencies sounded great, the mid and high frequencies were too weak – especially in comparison to the low ends. People were disappointed that they couldn’t turn the volume up too high with these headphones because there would be significant distortion.

One customer also pointed out that only after using the headphones for a month, they started experiencing buzzing in one of the ear cups. They were able to get a replacement, but they reported that within three months, the right ear cup on the replacement set of headphones started to buzz as well.

Final Verdict

When you love music as much as we do, you don’t want to rely on just any old set of headphones to get your fix. This is especially true if you’re a music creator and you want to make sure the music you create sounds as good recorded as it does when you play it.

The Beyerdynamic Closed Monitoring Headphones are made for people who want and/or need high quality tracking headphones that are build well, comfortable to wear, and of course, sound great.

We love these headphones because they seem to have been made with a music lover in mind. You’ll never experience any “muddiness” when using the headphones – if they are powered correctly. The headphones are bass-heavy, meaning that if you’re listening to a song with a lot of low notes, you’re going to feel those beats deep in your bones.

It’s worth noting that sometimes if you listen to a mixed song that has a lot of high instrumentals like stringed instruments or even cymbals, you may experience a high pitch ringing that can be distracting. Fortunately, this isn’t a common problem for most people. At most, you’ll be able to distinctly hear the cymbal shimmering.

If you’ve been searching for the perfect set of over-the-ear headphones that pack a lot of punch music-wise but doesn’t hurt the wallet too much, then we feel these are a great option. They’re lightweight, comfortable, and built specifically for musicians working in a studio. Don’t take our word for it though, try them yourself! You won’t be sorry.
