As a music-lover, it’s understandable that you want a great pair of headphones that’ll allow you to enjoy your music whenever you want. You want a set of headphones that’ll enhance the base, make the vocals crisp, and cancels out background noise. Hey, we get it! We want them too!
We think we’ve found that awesome set of headphones and they’ve come to us in the form of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones. Today, we’re going to highlight features of these headphones, give you a summary of what others think about them, and give you our final recommendation.
Though the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones may look like they are made for professionals, they are incredibly popular among us normal folk too.
The headphones are large, studio quality headphones that sit over the ear, thus able to block out background annoyances. The style of the headphones mimics the look of high-end headphones without the hefty price tag.
Notable features of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones include:
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones features a removable cable, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to use any 2.5 mm cable. You’ll need to use a cable that features a twist-to-lock mechanism.
Fortunately, this product does include three cables: one 1.2m cable that’ll let you use the headphones portably, two longer cables (one coiled and one straight) for stationary use.
In terms of sound quality, these headphones really perform well. The tonal balance of the headphones is accurate, the stereo imagine is impressive, and the dynamic impact can’t be topped. With this headphone set, you can expect to hear detailed bass, clear midrange, and distinct treble.
Do keep in mind that unlike previous headphone models in the Audio-Technica line, the M50x sounds great regardless of what style of music you love because the headphones are balanced well, and the bass seemed to be much deeper than others.
To get a better feel of how these headphones perform, we looked at what customers had to say about their experience with them. We weren’t too surprised to see that most consumers had great things to say about these headphones.
A few self-proclaimed audiophiles stated that these headphones have been their go-to headphones whenever they want to immerse themselves in their music. They love that these headphones work well no matter what you plug them into – be it a smart phone or a stereo system. The volume is spot on and the bass was almost true bass.
Customers like that when the music does get loud, the sound isn’t distorted at all, nor will the loudness damage your eardrums. One person said it took them some time to realize that whenever they heard a crash in the background, it was actually the crash of a cymbal in the song.
The way these headphones distribute the sound makes it sound like the headphones. Also, many customers reported that these headphones were very comfortable, and they didn’t experience too much pressure when wearing them for many hours at a time.
Although an overwhelming amount of people had great things to say about these headphones, we do want to be fair and mention some of the complaints people had as well. The most common complaint we noticed was that the materials used to make the headphones weren’t the greatest.
One person said they’ve had the headphones for more than two and a half years when the headband material started to chip and flake off. Despite this, this person said they still sound amazing.
Other customers were disappointed in the fit of the headphones. One reviewer lamented that if you have a “big head,” the headphones would be uncomfortable. The reviewer stated the cups that go over your ear presses down on them, thus creating a pressure point that hurts more the longer you wear them.
In fact, many of the critical reviews indicated that the headphones were uncomfortable, which was a huge disappointment because the sound quality was impressive in comparison to more expensive brands.
For many people, having music in their life is almost as important as needing air to breathe. There’s a lot of headphones available on the market, but not all of them are created equally. And for the audiophile, you cannot truly enjoy your music with subpar headphones. Fortunately, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones are not subpar.
If there is anything the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones shows us, its that you don’t have to spend upward to $300 for a decent pair of over-the-ear headphones. These headphones are a fraction of the price, but you wouldn’t know it because of the great sound quality.
Perhaps one of the features that we like the most about these headphones is that the cable can be removed, but also the product comes with three cable option: a shorter cable so you can use the headphones while on the go, but also two longer cable (or coiled and one not) that you can use with your computer, stereo system, or anything else!
In our opinion, we feel that these are pretty great headphones, especially for the price that you’re paying. We do want to mention that the materials used in these headphones aren’t top notch and they could start to break down over time as one reviewer stated… But, when the sound quality is this great, we can live with a cracked headband – can you?
